I know what an absolutely horrendous job search feels like.

Way back when I was trying to move my young family from Virginia to Pennsylvania, I went through a hopeless, demoralizing job search that absolutely sucked. One night, I was rushed to the ER because I thought I was having a heart attack.

And then…the results came back that it was just a massive anxiety attack. Caused by the stress of a fruitless job search and the pressure to provide for my wife and new baby girl while stuck in a job that I hated.

Fast forward a few decades: that adversity is what has brought me to you.

Because seriously, nobody should land in the ER because their job search is that taxing.

I eventually landed a new job through what I call a “company insider”— NOT an online job application—and this was no accident. Throughout my career I spent decades holding every seat in the job market: internal recruiter, external recruiter, hiring manager, job seeker, and eventually, CEO of my own successful executive recruitment firm.

And I saw the same pattern, the same story—MY story—repeated.

Over and over again, professionals would call me. Defeated. Demoralized. Hopeless. Resorting to Netflix and Cheetos. Settling for subpar positions or even worse staying in their current miserable job because they felt they had no other choice. And they were all making the same mistakes.

I would help them course correct and finally land a position that was worth their time, energy and experience. After thousands of hours and thousands of professionals, these strategies became the Smart Job Search System.

Not only that, but I found that the Smart Job Search System not only helped professionals land their next position…it set a foundation for a better career overall.
